Visual Description
To be honest, at some point I started wondering: what if Ali’s bolt is just a simple bolt and the makers are trolling me?
Fortunately, it wasn’t a simple bolt, but a great and intricate sequential puzzle in the best traditions of Wil Strijbos.
The puzzle is a bit bigger and heavier than your average bolt-based puzzle.
The objective is to remove the lower nut that is half screwed into the lower half of the bolt. The nut itself seems to be locked in place by a small screw that is embedded in the nut itself.
So you will have to understand how to remove the small bolt to unscrew the nut completely.
The quality of the metal is not exceptional — it is a sturdy average metal bolt anyway. The precision and metal craft of the actual parts are superb, on the other hand.
Main Features
Ali’s Bolt will really confuse you with its bold simplicity. I think when I was solving it: I immediately understood what the solution will be, but subconsciously resisted believing that it can be so simple.
After all, if you think logically, after trying everything else you will come to the same conclusion as me and find the solution. In the end, you will solve, just need to use the Occam’s razor.
That is why the puzzle is so ingeniously hard and satisfying to solve. I really felt joy when I finally got it.
Conclusion
Interesting approach for a simple bolt puzzle. The sequentiality of this model adds tons of points to the overall score.
I think this is one of my favorites now and I like it even more than Hanayama’s Nutcase that we reviewed earlier.

Tips and Tricks
- The is a hidden compartment at the top of the upper bolt. You just need to press your finger on the top nut and try to screw it counter-clockwise. The inner part of the circle will start to rotate and you will be able to release the inside tool. After that, ty will be able to unscrew the small bolt that locks the lower nut and complete the puzzle.
