Steam prime express by ROKR is yet another 3D wooden puzzle in the form of a train. Is it better, is it worse than other models? What unique features does it have? Let’s see!

ROKR MC models are made to resemble different vehicles and their evolution back in the 19th century.

This 3D wooden puzzle is designed in a form of a mini model, but at the same time have the complicated resemblance and features of the original.

The train itself is of great quality and is actually quite complex to assemble. Sporting whopping 308 parts — it will take at least 4-5 hours to complete it. Make sure not to do this in one go to avoid overstraining yourself.

Main Features

The main and the most amazing feature of the train is of course the details it has. The model has the whistle, the steam cylinders, and the fully functioning cab with opening shafts.

The wheels rotate, but cannot turn, you will need tracks for that. The only pitiful thing is that the tracks are not included in the kit and the train moves without them.

There is no wind-up mechanism so it also cannot move on its own. Otherwise, it is a fully functioning toy.

Lastly, this 3d wooden puzzle is more of a display model than a playful thing, but it can be used as both if needed.

Comparison with Steam Locomotive by Ugears

Steam Locomotive is certainly a bit more functional as it includes the set of tracks and rubber band motor that can propel the train itself. The design of the steam locomotive is much more simplistic though and the quality of wood is a bit worse than of a ROKR Wooden 3D puzzles.

Conclusion

An interesting model that, in my opinion, lacks the functionality. It is a very interesting assemble though, with a lot of parts and many cool tricks up its sleeve. it is great for display, but it won’t be a very consistent toy if you want to give it to your kids.
