Visual Description
Mayan Calendar by Wood Trick definitely impresses from the first glance. The amount of details of the model is just amazing:
- The calendar has a circular shape with a famous Mayan (again, Aztec?) Sun God depiction in the center called Huitzilopotchli. And yes, it is almost identical replica of an Aztec Sun Stone artifact a. k. a. Piedra del Sol;
- The outer squares represent four previous sun eras: Jaguar, Wind, Rain and Water;
- The ring in the middle represents different animals and mystical creatures of Mexican pantheon and cosmogony;
- Lower part is dedicated for depicting the day numbers in 7 columns. The upper part, on another hand, depicts the all 12 month;
- Finally, the outer circle represents the year numbers;
The model itself consists of 3 movable circles which are executed in a cool parallax form.
Main Features
The main and only feature of this model apart from being awesomely cool is to act as a calendar. You can rotate the dials and adjust the date by adjusting the Year and a month dial. That way you will be able to get the appropriate day column and adjust the exact day.
There are no wind-up mechanisms or any kind of automations so you will have to adjust the date every day by yourself like the good old days.

Comparison with Perpetual Calendar by ROKR
The two calendars are identical in functionality. The Mayan calendar is much bigger and probably won’t fit on your shelf or desk, but can be hung up on the wall to look awesome.
Mayan’s calendar goes up to year 2044, as Perpetual Calendar only goes to 2040. it does not make a significant difference, but still worth mentioning.
Mayan Calendar is significantly higher priced, but as the same time, it makes for it with its big size and amazing parallax look.
Conclusion
Amazingly detailed piece that is easy to assemble. If you are an experience puzzle solver — you can get it done in an hour. We would definitely suggest taking it slow through and enjoy every step of your journey.
Not the most practical, but a very beautiful thing for your interior.
